fiscal responsibility

Marina’s $20 million city budget is balanced and sustainable.

groundwater protection

Bruce has led the fight to protect Marina’s water from Cal Am’s proposed desal project that could contaminate and deplete our groundwater.

cemex closure

Negotiated for the successful closure of the CEMEX sand mining plant by 2020.


veteran care

Marina’s $100 million VA Clinic is serving veterans throughout the county, offering expanded services closer to home.

affordable housing

Spent $35 million to keep352 homes under city-controlled rents and earn $2 million a year for Marina. Mobile home rent control provides economic stability to 400 mostly senior and low-income households.

thriving commerce

Bruce has worked hard to bring Marina its new movie theater and restaurants at The Dunes Shopping Center.

The new Marriott Hotel is exceeding expectations bringing $550 thousand in hotel tax to Marina in 2017.

Marina’s before- and after-school youth sports programs are thriving.

Bruce leads volunteers at Locke-Paddon Park Oak Woodland Restoration Project nurturing 50 new oak trees and hundreds of native “companion” plants. As leaders of Citizens for Sustainable Marina, Bruce and his wife Natalie led the ban on plastic bags in Marina.
